The method of enforcing a law previously known as an OKBI announcement, has changed a few years ago. By 2012 the notification had to be done in writing (2 safety data sheets and a notification form had to be added), instead of entering the ÁNTSZ website every company has to create an account in the OSZIR system and upload the necessary data there. This increased the administrative burden for companies, but created a database that was easily accessible and transparent to the company and the authorities.

The hazardous substance and mixture must be reported by the first distributor in Hungary. This can be the manufacturer or the company importing the product into the country.

In addition to the first notification of hazardous substances and mixtures in the OSZIR system:

• changes to the datasheets for dangerous substances and mixtures
• some biocidal products (more on biocides here)
• activities involving hazardous substances

can also be reported.

A change notification is possible if the product is resold under the same name, but the content of the information sheet has changed. All versions of the safety data sheet must be reported so that the inspector can always find the document handed over at the OSZIR.
