Blast furnace coke is an essential fuel for the steel industry, but coke is also used by other industries because of its high calorific value. Its raw material, coal, comes to Hungary from the neighboring countries but also from Russian mines or from distant North and South America.

In addition to its use in the steel industry, its use in household and energy production is significant.
